Very few holes on a golf course are perfectly straight. Most holes dogleg left or right requiring a shot that moves with the shape of the hole. So here is a simple swing alteration you need to make to ensure that the ball moves in the same direction as the hole.

Let us first focus on the draw where the ball moves from right to left through the air. The most important part of this swing is to keep your upper right arm firmly positioned against your chest. This will cause your swing path to follow a line that moves from inside outward, imparting a right to left spin on the ball.

Here is a simple drill that you can do to keep your upper right arm against your chest. Take a folded handkerchief and place it under your right armpit between your chest and your arm. Close your right arm against your chest to hold the handkerchief in place. Start your swing and concentrate on keeping the handkerchief in that position with your upper right arm during the entire swing and do not let it fall out. If it does fall out it means that you aren’t keeping your upper right arm against your chest and will consequently not draw the ball.

Now we get to the fade where the objective of the shot is to move the ball through the air from left to right. In this swing we do exactly the opposite of what we did for the draw. Place the clubhead behind the ball and focus on taking the clubhead straight backwards on the backswing. This is on the same line that you want the ball to follow immediately after impact. It is very important that you let your upper right arm move away from your chest during the backswing. Follow the same line on the downswing and move your upper right arm back toward your chest. With this swing path you will force the club to follow a line moving from outside the normal swing path to inside, consequently imparting a left to right spin on the ball making it fade.

I hope this helps you to control the ball better.

A Short Golf Swing Guide
By Dave Simpson

It might not exactly be rocket science but there are still many factors to consider when swinging a golf club. In fact, to prove to you that it can really be quite simple, here is here is a short step by step golf swing guide that should help you play better.

Start at the beginning, for as they say, that’s the best place to start! Well, the beginning of any good golf swing is the setup position. No matter what circumstances you find yourself in, you need a good setup position. Of course, depending on your height and build, the appropriate posture will vary from golfer to golfer but generally I recommend that you stand straight with your feet and shoulders apart. During the backswing, rotate your torso while firmly holding the club’s shaft to maintain a 90 degrees angle with your forearm. As you swing, make sure that you move the club smoothly and quickly and at the same time maintain your balance.

Its important to try and move the shaft of the club into a frontal plane as you strike the ball. Let the club do the work and try and get the club head to strike the ball square to the angle of the swing and in the centre of the club face; this will give the best directional control. Of course, a fast and hard impact is important for gaining distance but I recommend, especially for beginners , that you sacrifice power for accuracy and remember that direction is just as important as distance. Swinging too hard is a common fault amongst novice players – be smooth and the rest will flow.

It’s vital not to forget about your balance as any good golf swing guide will keep reinforcing. If you want to achieve a smooth, powerful and above all a consistent swing then you must learn to control your balance.

So there’s a basic no-nonsense golf swing guide. Ok, it may not have you winning the Masters but hopefully it can get you started on the path there. Of course, there are many better and more comprehensive guides available to download , and I thoroughly recommend that you invest in one if you seriously want to improve your game. I recommend that you check out this review site before you choose one though.

Here’s how to consistantly improve your game…

Hello Fellow Golfer,

Every year when the new season starts
I’m in top form AND it’s not because
I’m in great shape.

It’s more a mental thing.

I learned from the Pros that the littlest
changes can make a big difference to your game.

So like the Pros, a couple of years ago
I started tracking my rounds with a golf
handicap tracker, and I got to say, it’s
really had quite an impact on my game!

So now when a new season roles around all
I need to do is look at last season’s stats
and Boom I know exactly where to focus my
attention when I’m on the course.

That’s really important to me and you.

Because unlike my buddies who are all over
the course, I simply focus on the strong
areas of my game and not the weak ones.

And so should you. And it’s so simple.

Tracking your game is as easy as checking your
emails with an easy to use golf handicap software
like the one I use to help improve my game.

And the best part is…

It’s now incredibly affordable!

It’s so affordable that no golfer should
ever play without it. Once you start tracking
and analyzing your golf rounds your game will
never be the same.

I’m serious.

Check the link below to have a look.

You’ll be glad you did and you’ll want
to thank me later.
