Golf Swing Speed – One Golf Swing Tip to an Improving Game

Golf swing speed is a crucial factor in an improving golf game because what happens to all golfers when they are on the brink of a real breakthrough round or victory is that they make a couple of silly mistakes and mess up their scorecard and their chances of victory.

And invariably these mistakes are uncharacteristic which is the most frustrating parts of the whole thing.

Do not worry about this because every golfer, regardless of ability, experiences this in their golfing career. The main reason for this comes back to your swing speed, which quickens up through the rush of adrenaline that you experience when in sight of victory.

Your swing speed needs to be constant from the first hole to the last. This is not easy to accomplish but can be overcome by recognizing that it can occur and training your swing tempo and speed with various exercises and the use of a consistent pre-shot routine.

This is why professionals are meticulous with their pre-shot routines because they train this routine to the point where they are swinging on auto pilot to a great extent and combat the urge to quicken up everything coming down the stretch.

It is important to recognize that golf swing tempo and speed are slightly different. You could have a slow swing tempo, reflective of your personality a la Ernie Els, but still generate enormous speed through impact. So whatever your natural tempo is, don’t fight it but do recognize that your swing can get ridiculously quick when under the gun.

So work on your pre shot routine, embrace the excitement of being on the brink of a great round but do not let your golf swing speed get to a place where it is out of control and will cost you shots.
